Preserving some of the historical buildings in Cairo Illinois is the focus of a public event in Cairo planned for Saturday May 14th, 2022.

Charles McGinnis is the Board President of the Cairo Historical Association, which owns and operates Magnolia Manor, and he says he would like to see an increase in history tourism, and says if you don't understand your past history, you could make the same mistakes in the future.

In this feature, we will also hear from Cairo native Robin Patterson, one of the board members of the Cairo Historical Preservation Project.

Kevin Boucher is a retired broadcaster. Most recently he was a news reporter for WSIU radio. He grew up watching nature programs including Mutual of Omaha’s wild kingdom and the many Jacques Cousteau specials which sparked his passion with nature. Kevin also is an avid hiker and loves seeing and writing stories about the many fascinating plants and animals we share our planet with. Kevin is married and has lived in Murphysboro since 1976, after living in many places, including Japan, as the son of a Navy officer.
