According to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, nationwide, over 6.2 million people are living with the disease. Charles Fuschillo President and CEO of the Foundation says in Illinois that number is 230-thousand and is expected to grow. And that's why his group is hosting a free virtual Alzheimer's conference on Wednesday May 4. Fuschillo says the disease also takes a toll on the caregivers who can suffer from burnout.
"You know a caregiver faces significant emotional and physical stress of caring for somebody with Alzheimer's disease so it's important that they take a time out for themselves on a daily basis to take care of themselves as well."Charles Fuschillo
Fuschillo adds the number of Illinoisans with Alzheimer's is expected to increase by at least 20 percent in the next three years. To register form Wednesday's Zoom conference for caregivers, browse to: https://alzfdn.org/event/educating-america-tour-illinois/
