Kyle Smithpeters leaves the John A. Logan men's basketball program.

John A. Logan College head basketball coach Kyle Smithpeters is leaving to become an assistant coach at the University of Missouri.

Smithpeters joins the Tigers following a successful 10-year stint at Logan where he won 241 games.

He earned Great Rivers Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors six times over his first eight seasons as a head coach.

New Missouri head coach Dennis Gates said he tried to hire Smithpeters three years ago while he was at Cleveland State.

Smithpeters joins former John A. Logan guard and national JUCO Player of the Year Sean East, who recently committed to play for Gates in Columbia, Missouri.
