Saturday is World Voice Day, and Dr. Maria Claudia Franca is with the Communication Disorders and Sciences program at SIU-C. And she says, like any other part of your body, it's important to take care of your voice, and she stresses the importance of plenty of rest and water.
"Drink more water. Plain water. Take voice breaks , vocal breaks here and there. And relaxation at the end of the day works wonders for the voice."
Franca adds excessive throat clearing and coughing irritate vocal cords and should be avoided if possible.
