The Carbondale-based non-profit, This Able Veteran is resuming its in-person "Really Close to Almost 5K Color Run and Walk" on April 30 and group member Alicia Ruiz says this event can be thought of as serving those who have served this country.

"A day basically to help raise awareness about post-traumatic stress and also to raise funds for our organization, which provides service dogs to veterans with post traumatic stress disorder."

Ruiz says this year the non-timed run will take place at Walker's Bluff in Carterville and is open to people of all skill levels. Ruiz says the deadline to register is April 10, and there will be a virtual option as well. To learn more visit: https://thisableveteran.org/
