The National Weather service says southern Illinois could get hit with two doses of severe weather this week.

Chris Noles, with the Paducah office says a flood watch has been issued for late Monday night through Tuesday night. Along with locally heavy rain, Noles says severe thunderstorms are possible.

"Late tonight early tomorrow morning, there is the chance for a few strong to severe Thunderstorms, that may produce high winds or locally damaging wind gusts."

Then Noles says sleet and freezing rain could move in.

"And that could start as early as later Wednesday night, Thursday midday, on through the late afternoon and early evening."

Noles adds it's still too early to predict how much freezing rain we could get, but says the Weather Service believes the winter mix could impact travel.
