Jerry Kill reunites with Mario Moccia

Two former members of the Saluki Athletics Department are reuniting.

On Monday, Jerry Kill was named the new head football coach at New Mexico State University.

His boss at New Mexico State is Athletic Director Mario Moccia, who served in the same role at SIU from 2006 to 2014.

Kill was the head coach of Saluki football from 2001 to 2007.

Since leaving the Saluki program, Kill has bounced around. He has been the head coach at Northern Illinois and Minnesota; an associate athletic director at Kansas State; an assistant coach at Rutgers; the AD at SIU; an assistant coach at both Virginia Tech and TCU, where he finished as the interim head coach in November.

Kill has won 154 games during his 23-year head coaching career.

New Mexico State won two games this past season.
