SIU Football Looks for Milestone Win at NDSU
Round two of the FCS playoffs finds the Salukis in another familiar location...the Fargo Dome...home of North Dakota State.
The two teams did not meet this fall in the Missouri Valley Football Conference regular season, but SIU broke the Bison's 39-game winning streak with a win in Carbondale last February.
Head Coach Nick Hill says a win this Saturday would be another one to remember.
"This team's had a lot of big wins, but obviously going on the road to win a game in the Fargo Dome where they've won, I don't know what the percentage is, but it's high. So, it would be one of the biggest wins in school history, especially going on the road to do it."
To say the SIU football team has had a physically demanding year would be an understatement.
When the Salukis line up against North Dakota State Saturday in the second round of the FCS playoffs, it will be the 23rd game of the calendar year.
Head Coach Nick Hill says the team's success during this unprecedented time can be attributed to the players taking care of their bodies and having more bodies to step up when called upon.
"Whoever is still playing right now with that many games has proven to recruit at a level to have some sustained depth. I mean we're playing without our leading tackler from the spring in Bryson Strong. We're playing without our first team All-American corner James Ceasar who got hurt at Kansas State."
The Salukis and the Bison will kickoff at 2:30 Saturday afternoon in Fargo, North Dakota.
