Senators Fowler, Bryant and Plummer to Host Town Hall in Benton

Three senators representing much of southern Illinois will take part in a town hall meeting Wednesday evening in Benton.

Senators Dale Fowler, Jason Plummer and Terri Bryant will listen to the issues facing their constituents.

Senator Bryant says sometimes those issues can be dealt with during the event.

"We will all be bringing staff with us. A lot of those staff members have dealt with similar cases before. So, sometimes on the very night of the meeting we're able to get those issues resolved."

Bryant says a lot of the issues facing southern Illinoisans deal with state agencies, such as the Illinois Department of Employment Security or the Secretary of State's office.

"When we know about what the issues are we can then contact the state agency the next day on behalf of that person, either acting on their behalf, or acting as a conduit so we can get them help."

Bryant says she also expects a lot of concerns about Governor Pritzker signing a new law clarifying Illinois’ Right of Conscience Act so it doesn’t apply to COVID-19 mandates and the repeal of the state Parental Notice of Abortion law.

The town hall will take place on Wednesday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Cafe Bloom on the Public Square in Benton.

C-D-C and I-D-P-H COVID guidelines will be in place.
