Freezing Temperatures on the Way

The National Weather Service

The probability of near freezing and sub-freezing low temperatures across the region has been increasing in the weather guidance the last several days, and it appears these cold temperatures will likely impact the area as early as Wednesday morning, along the Interstate 64 corridor.

The National Weather Service says freezing and sub-freezing low temperatures are expected to work further south Thursday morning, then area-wide both Friday and Saturday mornings.

At this time, forecasters say the coldest lows will occur Friday morning with a good portion of southern Illinois seeing temperatures in the upper 20's.

If you have plants or agricultural crops sensitive to near freezing or sub-freezing temperatures, they say now is the time to make preparations to protect them from the cold later this week.
