Volunteers are needed this Thursday to set up US flags for the funeral of Brooklyn Illinois Police Officer Brian Russell Pierce Jr. Jeff Hastings with the non-profit "The Flagman's Mission Continues" says when he contacted the family of the fallen officer, who was recently killed in the line of duty, they were touched.
"It's the right thing to do, and we're going to do it. The parents were graciously, were honored to have us come and I told them that we were humbled to be there, and we would be there, and I'm sure the community will be there."
Hastings says volunteers will meet at 5PM Thursday in the John A. Logan College parking to set up over 2,500, flags on the College campus. The visitation is scheduled for Friday, and funeral for Officer Pierce will be held at 11AM this Saturday at John A. Logan College.
