Community Invited to Wish Deanna Price Well Before the Olympics

Saluki Track and Field

The community is invited to show its support for Olympian and former Saluki DeAnna Price by gathering at her last practice before the Olympic Games.

The Saluki Track and Field Facebook page has a post encouraging fans to make signs and come out to the Banterra Center parking lot at 6:45 p.m. on Friday as Price leaves her final practice before heading to Tokyo.

The post says the event should last from 6:45 to around 7:15.

It warns depending on the weather, Price's practice time may change. Updates will be posted on the Facebook page if the time changes.

Price heads to the Olympics as one of the favorites to win the gold medal in the women's hammer throw.

At the U.S. Olympic trials last month, she shattered the American record and became just the second woman in history with a throw of over 80 meters.

The preliminary round of the hammer throw in Tokyo starts on July 31. The final round is on August 3.
