Small Businesses Can Get Help in Applying for Economic Recovery Funds

An economic development organization that serves 28 counties from southernmost Illinois to the Metro East is receiving state funds to help small businesses locate economic recovery grants through the Community Navigator Program.

The Greater Egypt Regional Planning and Development Commission is in line to get around 750-thousand dollars from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

Greater Egypt's economic development director Jennifer Olson says the funding will help businesses overcome pandemic-driven struggles with issues such as access to supplies.

She says they'll work with partners such as the small business development centers at SIU, Shawnee College and Southeastern Illinois College to deliver one-on-one counseling.
