Southern Seven Urges Parents to Make Sure Their Children Are Current on Their Shots Before School Starts.

The Southern Seven Health Department says because of last-year's forced virtual schooling, many kids fell behind on their required vaccinations.

The Department says parents should schedule routine shots now, and avoid the last minute rush.

Shawnna Rhine with Southern Seven says between 2019 and 2020 their clinics showed a drop of nearly 12 percent in immunizations. She says these shots protect against traditional childhood diseases such as chicken pox, measles and mumps, and now children over the age of 12 can also be vaccinated against COVID-19.
