SPECULATION IS GROWING THAT SEVERAL ILLINOIS DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS ARE ANXIOUS TO THROW THEIR HATS INTO THE RING FOR GOVERNOR IN 20-10.

By Brad Palmer

Carbondale, IL – SPECULATION IS GROWING THAT SEVERAL ILLINOIS DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS ARE ANXIOUS TO THROW THEIR HATS INTO THE RING FOR GOVERNOR IN 20-10.
WITH TWO-TERM GOVERNOR ROD BLAGOJEVICH'S RATINGS PLUMMETING THANKS TO THE CONVICTION OF HIS FORMER TOP FUNDRAISER AND THE BICKERING WITH OTHER DEMOCRATIC LEADERS IN SPRINGFIELD, SOME FEEL THE TIME IS RIGHT FOR NEW LEADERSHIP.
ONE RUMOR FLOATING AROUND IS THAT STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL LISA MADIGAN MAY CONSIDER A RUN FOR GOVERNOR.
DURING A RECENT STOP IN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS, MADIGAN DODGED THE QUESTION ABOUT HER FUTURE POLITICAL AMBITIONS.
MADIGAN'S FATHER - HOUSE SPEAKER MIKE MADIGAN - HAS AN OPEN FEUD GOING WITH GOVERNOR BLAGOJEVICH CONCERNING THE OPERATION OF STATE GOVERNMENT.
REPUBLICAN STATE SENATOR CHRISTINE RADOGNO - WHO HAS REPRESENTED THE SOUTHWESTERN SUBURBS OF CHICAGO SINCE 1997 - SAYS SHE IS EYEING A RUN FOR GOVERNOR. BUT RADOGNO SAYS SHE WON'T MAKE A FIRM DECISION UNTIL AFTER THE 2008 ELECTION.
