Following an all-night bargaining session, negotiators with the University of Illinois and the union representing graduate workers on the Urbana campus have reached a tentative contract agreement.

The Graduate Employees' Organization - or GEO - announced the news on social media earlier Thursday.

Probation officers, supervisors and support staff of the 20th Judicial Circuit Court Services and Probation have voted to file an intent to strike after working without a contract since December of 2016.

United Faculty, the union representing tenured and tenure-track professors at the University of Illinois Springfield, have been marching and chanting for a contract for three days.

They've been in negotiations for almost two years, and say the main sticking points are the retention and promotion policies, not salaries.

But Thursday, in her first public comments about the strike, Chancellor Susan Koch said money is an issue too.

Faculty members at the University of Illinois Springfield have voted to authorize a strike.

Gov. Bruce Rauner's administration has made it easier to find temporary workers in case a major public-employee union strikes.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees state council says hiring replacements would be illegal.
