A unique fundraiser is planned for this Saturday on the SIU Carbondale Campus.  It will use running, to promote literacy,  in Carbondale and around the world.  WSIU's Jordan Maddox has the story.

SIU Trustees have approved pay raises for the Edwardsville campus... but the move is drawing criticism.

The plan, which provides for a two-percent increase for last fiscal year along with a two-percent bump for this fiscal year, covers non-represented employees for now, but some bargaining units will have to wait for open contract negotiations to finish.

About 14,000 people filled Southern Illinois University's Saluki Stadium in Carbondale to watch Monday's total solar eclipse.

By now you likely know an eclipse is happening Monday, Aug. 21. There have been countless stories about the celestial event, how to view it, the science behind it and hotels that were booked more than a year in advance. But even with all that coverage, you might not have heard details about a small town in deep Southern Illinois that is expected to almost triple in size just for the eclipse.
