Wintry Mix Possible Tuesday Night

Wintry Precipitation Likely To Cause Travel Impacts Tuesday night into Early Wednesday Morning...   Precipitation is expected to spread northeast across the region late Tuesday afternoon into the evening hours. Sub-freezing temperatures will be located north of the Ohio River as the precipitation arrives. The colder air will progress slowly south into western Kentucky later Tuesday night.   North of the Ohio River and the Cape Girardeau area, a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected Tuesday night.

The region is recovering from its first winter storm of the season.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest accumulation of snow and sleet - around four inches - occurred in eastern Pope and western Hardin counties of southern Illinois and just east of Paducah in western Kentucky.

Most communities reported light ice buildups on elevated surfaces such as trees, power lines and vehicles.

Power outages were reported across several communities in southern Illinois, especially in Jackson County, where at one point Friday afternoon, around 1,500 Ameren customers were without power.

An ICE STORM WARNING is in effect from 9 a.m. Friday to noon Sunday for Clinton, Fayette, Marion and Washington counties. 1/4 to 3/4 of an inch of ice is possible.
