The 2015 independent British sci-fi thriller Ex Machina tells the story of a programmer who administers the Turing Test - a test to see if a machine’s ability to exhibit intelligent behavior is equivalent to that of a human – to an android invented by his eccentric employer.

Now available on DVD is the 2015 biographical drama Trumbo.  The film follows the life of Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo.  Bryan Cranston plays the title role and is nominated for an Oscar in the Actor in a Leading Role category.     Film critic Jason Hedrick takes a closer look in this edition of SIU Reviews.

Quentin Tarantino visits the American west in his latest big-screen production The Hateful Eight.  The movie, set shortly after the Civil War,  tells the story of eight strangers brought together by happenstance during a blizzard.
