Zanotti Chosen Williamson County Prosecutor

Jennifer Fuller/WSIU Radio

Williamson County has a new top prosecutor – Johnston City native Brandon Zanotti.

Zanotti was retiring State’s Attorney Chuck Garnati’s recommendation to the County Board, and Garnati says he’s got all the qualities one could hope for.

“I don’t care how many murder trials – you might have done a hundred murder trials – but if there’s not integrity, and fairness, and good sense, and justice coming out of the State’s Attorney, then you don’t have a good State’s Attorney.”

For his part, Zanotti says he’s got big shoes to fill, following Garnati’s 30-year career as State’s Attorney and a record of never losing a murder case. But Zanotti says he’ll be looking at ways to make the office better, nonetheless.

“Everything can always use some improvement, and that’s one thing this week – and really over the coming weeks – I’m going to be looking at, to see what we can do to modernize and what we can do to move the office forward.”

Zanotti’s nomination was approved unanimously in a special Williamson County Board meeting Monday morning. He comes to the job with experience as a trial lawyer, as well as an administrative law judge and several years in business.
