Young Vows Appeal After Lawsuit is Tossed

A Jackson County judge has dismissed a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of Molly Young.

Jackson County's online court records show Judge Chuck Grace dismissed the suit Friday.

Young's father, Larry, filed the suit in June of last year against former Carbondale Police Dispatcher and Molly's former boyfriend, Richie Minton, the man he accuses of killing his daughter, despite a lack of criminal charges filed.

Young says the court indicated he could've filed a suit within 14 months of the coroner's inquest. But, his inability to get police records in a timely manner did not allow him to present a proper civil case against Minton.

Molly Young died from a gunshot wound in 2012. Her body was found in Minton's apartment.
Mr. Young says he will appeal Judge Grace's decision.
