Carbondale, Ill. -- Campaign 2012 goes into the history books as the most expensive election contest in U.S. history, with over $43-million spent by outside groups to influence Illinois Congressional contests alone (source: Sunlight Foundation), plus millions more spent on races for the Illinois General Assembly and judicial contests.

WSIU Public Television, a public media arm of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and local political analysts will discuss the impact of big money in this year’s Illinois elections and break down the numbers behind Tuesday’s list of winners and losers in a post-Election Day special airing Friday, November 9 at 7:30pm on WSIU's primary HD channels, WSIU-TV 8.1 and WUSI-TV 16.1. The program will repeat on Sunday, November 11 at 12:30pm.

David Yepsen, Director of the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute, and SIU political scientist John Jackson, sit down with WSIU-TV's Jak Tichenor to analyze the outcome of the November 6th General Election and to discuss where the state and country go from here.

Additional repeats of the local Election 2012 special will air on WSIU’s WORLD channels, WSIU-TV 8.2 and WUSI-TV 16.2, on Saturday, November 10 at 4pm; Sunday, November 11 at 9pm; and Monday, November 12 at 8pm.

Election 2012 programming on WSIU-TV and WSIU Radio is sponsored in part by Forbes Financial Group and Marion Subaru.
