Local Trivia Contest Scheduled for This Saturday, April 5

Carbondale, Ill. -- Do you have a knack for remembering large volumes of random information? Do friends argue over who gets to have you on their Trivial Pursuit™ team? WSIU Public Radio, a public media arm of Southern Illinois University, invites you to put that quick brain to work in support of the Southern Illinois Radio Information Service (SIRIS) at the 2nd Annual SIRIS Trivia Night fundraiser.

The event will be held this Saturday, April 5 at 6pm at the Newman Center, 715 South Washington in Carbondale. WSIU-TV's Jak Tichenor will be Master of Ceremonies. Doors open at 6pm; trivia begins at 6:30pm.

Teams of up to eight people will compete for first, second, and third place prizes. Individuals and teams are welcome. Registration is $15 per person or $120 per team. Teams can register beforehand or on site on the day of the event. Participants are invited to bring their own food and drink or to buy snacks from SIRIS.

All sale proceeds will benefit SIRIS, a radio information service for individuals who are blind or whose physical condition makes reading difficult or impossible. Broadcasts include regional and national newspapers, magazines, and books. SIRIS is supported in part by the United Way.

Questions should be directed to Jeff Williams at (618) 453-6170, jeff.williams@wsiu.org or Sarah Maher at (618) 453-2808, sarah.maher@wsiu.org.
