WSIU Story Booth at 5th Annual Cape Girardeau Storytelling Festival

Carbondale, Ill. – Reporters, camera crews, and photographers are invited to cover the 5th Annual Cape Girardeau Storytelling Festival, which will run from Friday, April 13 through Sunday, April 15 in the city's historic riverfront district.

WSIU Public Broadcasting, the public media arm of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, will feature a “Share a Story” Audio Recording booth on Saturday, April 14 from 1 -7pm. Visitors should look for the station's canopy and colorful PBS KIDS Literacy Van near the River Campus of Southeast Missouri State University.

Guests who spin their favorite family tales, funny stories, or poems at WSIU's story booth will receive a CD copy of their recording as a keepsake, along with educational materials and other WSIU items. WSIU Radio will feature the recorded stories and a photo of each storyteller online at www.wsiu.org at a later date. Children will enjoy a variety of PBS KIDS games and activities.

To listen to stories recorded at the festival by WSIU in previous years, select the “Radio” tab on WSIU's homepage at www.wsiu.org, then select “Radio Voices: The Storytellers.”

Master storytellers for this year's Cape Girardeau Storytelling Festival are Sheila Kay Adams, Dan Keding, Jennifer Munro, Kim Weitkamp, Larry Brown, and Jessica Carleton.
