WSIU, Carbondale Public Library to Present Free Community Cinema Film Screening on May 2

“Limited Partnership” – Precedent-setting Fight for Marriage and Immigration Equality.

Carbondale, Ill.WSIU Public Broadcasting and the Carbondale Public Library will present a free screening and discussion of the Independent Lensfilm Limited Partnership on Saturday, May 2 at 2:30PM at the Carbondale Public Library, 405 W. Main.

Presented as part of WSIU's participation in Community Cinema, a community engagement initiative from the Independent Television Service (ITVS) and Independent Lens, Limited Partnership tells the story of one gay couple who fell in love and took on the U.S. government to fight for marriage and immigration equality. Over four decades of legal challenges, Richard and Tony figured out how to maintain their sense of humor, justice, and whenever possible, their privacy. This tenacious story of love, marriage, and immigration equality is as precedent-setting as it is little-known – until now.

Guests at the screening on Saturday, May 2 will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion connecting issues in the film to issues within our community led by discussion moderators: Paulette Curkin, LGBT Activist, Carbondale, IL, and Katherine Bryant Graves, Pastor, First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Carbondale, IL.
