WSIU to Carry Governor's Budget Address February 17 -- Speech Will Air Live at Noon on WSIU-TV, WSIU Radio

Carbondale, Ill. -- WSIU Radio and WSIU-TV, the public media stations of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, will broadcast Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner’s second annual Budget Address to the Illinois General Assembly live at noon on  Wednesday, February 17 on WSIU-TV 8.1 and WUSI-TV 16.1 and WSIU Radio 91.9 FM, 91.9 HD, 90.3 FM and 88.9 FM. It will also stream live online at WSIU.org.

WSIU-TV will repeat the broadcast later that evening, at 9pm, on it’s main channel. An additional repeat will air on WSIU-TV's WORLD Channels – WSIU-TV 8.2 and WUSI-TV 16.2 – on Thursday, February 18 at 5pm.

WSIU Radio also will make the speech available for later listening at wsiunews.org.

The broadcast will be presented as part of the statewide public television series Illinois Lawmakers. Series host and statehouse correspondent Jak Tichenor will anchor the program, which will include bipartisan reaction to the Governor's speech by legislative leaders and analysis from veteran Springfield journalists Amanda Vinicky, Statehouse Bureau Chief for Illinois Public Radio, and Rich Miller, founder and publisher of the political newsletter CapitolFax.com. The program is expected to run one hour.
