Carbondale, Ill. -- WSIU-TV and WSIU Radio, the public media stations of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, will broadcast Illinois Governor Pat Quinn's annual Budget Address to the Illinois General Assembly live at noon on Wednesday, March 26 on WSIU-TV 8.1, WUSI-TV 16.1, and WSIU Radio 91.9 FM, 91.9 HD, 90.3 FM & 88.9 FM. The program is expected to run approximately one hour. WSIU-TV will repeat the broadcast later at 10pm and again on Sunday, March 30 at 1pm.

Additional repeats will air on WSIU-TV's WORLD Channels -- WSIU-TV 8.2 and WUSI-TV 16.2 -- on Thursday, March 27 at 12pm and 8pm; Sunday, March 30 at 9am; and Monday, March 31 at 12pm.

The broadcast will be presented as part of the statewide public television series Illinois Lawmakers. Series host and statehouse correspondent Jak Tichenor will anchor the program, which will include bipartisan reaction to the Governor's speech by legislative leaders and veteran Statehouse correspondents.

State lawmakers have already begun deliberating how they may have to make deep cuts in education and human services if the current temporary income tax expires on schedule next January. The Governor has not said whether he supports extending the current five percent personal income tax rate, but has indicated he will outline a five-year budget plan for the state in his speech.

Illinois Lawmakers on WSIU is sponsored in part by COUNTRY Financial in Bloomington.

Stay tuned to WSIU-TV or visit the WSIU-TV's social media pages at facebook.com/wsiutv and twitter.com/wsiutv for schedule updates.
