Woolsey Energy Pulls Its Fracking Application in White County

Logo

The company planning to conduct a hydraulic fracturing operation in White County has decided to withdraw its application.
In a letter to the Office of Oil and Gas Resource Management in Springfield, Woolsey Energy officials say they're requesting the permits be released and the Injection Well Permit Application be withdrawn.

The company also says it understands if it decides to pursue a fracking operation at a later date in White County, it will have to begin the process all over again.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources approved Woolsey's application this past summer.

The application in White County was going to be the state's first project after Illinois approved high volume hydraulic fracturing four years ago.

Woolsey's application received opposition from Southern Illinoisans Against Fracturing Our Environment as well as Food and Water Watch.
