The state's budget crisis is creating similar problems in other governments.
Williamson County Commissioners have approved a tentative budget for their fiscal year - which starts December first - but they're only appropriating money for the first half of it, so that they may better know what the state funding level might be.
Board Chair Jim Marlo says they've also cut spending - but are doing their best to avoid layoffs at this time.
"The highway department - on big equipment, squad cars, by the time you add them all up, we're talking about $300,000 worth of actual cuts."
In addition to the equipment, Marlo says they've made a ten-percent across the board cut to spending outside of salaries.
Commissioners say they're still waiting for five months of state funding for the current fiscal year, and they have no idea what to expect for next year. They'll likely finalize their budget later this month.
