Volunteers Sought For Getting Carbondale Ready For The World.

One local group is asking for volunteers to pick up litter in Carbondale, in advance of the expected thousands of eclipse visitors.  Sarah Heyer, Executive Director of Keep Carbondale Beautiful says three clean–up days have been planned.  The first of which is this Saturday starting at 9:00AM, starting from the Town Square Pavilion, at the corner of Illinois Avenue and Main Street.  Bags and gloves will be provided.

Heyer says volunteers will start with the main routes and around Carbondale, and, if there are enough volunteers, some groups will pick up litter from side streets.  Individuals or groups interested in participating should get in touch with Keep Carbondale Beautiful at  618–525–5525.  The next clean–up days are scheduled for August 19th, and then after the eclipse, on August 26th.

Interested parties should contact the Keep Carbondale Beautiful office at 618-525-5525.
