Volunteers and Responders Urged to Take Care of Election Tasks Before Leaving

The Illinois State Board of Elections is making its own preparations in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.

With the general election just a month away, many utility and aid workers may not be in the state to cast their vote.   Illinois sent more than 2,000 workers to assist with the cleanup effort following Hurricane Katrina.

With that in mind, the state board of elections has sent an advisory urging utility workers and volunteers who may assist in anticipated clean-up efforts to vote early.

The board says they may not be back in time to cast a ballot on election day. And logistics may mean there won't be time for a mail-in ballot to be requested and processed.
