A new pilot program will provide equine therapy to veterans at Marion's V-A Medical Center.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is partnering with the Marion VA to take advantage of the healing power of horses. DNR spokesman Chris McCloud says the program is available through Giant City State Park.
McCloud says the equine therapy program is operated by the non-profit group Specialized Equine Services. It has more than 25 horses, ponies and mules available.
The Marion VA Center will refer patients to the program.
