UPDATE: SIU Says Suspect Identified in Security Alert

SIU

The SIU Department of Public Safety is continuing its investigating an incident in the Thompson Point residence hall.

SIU Police say they've identified a suspect, who has also been interviewed. No names have been released.

Officers say they received a report of a black male entering an unlocked room of two female students between 5 and 6 a.m. on April 27. They say one of the residents screamed and the suspect fled. It's believed he returned later, but the door was locked.

The SIU Department of Public Safety says this is a good reminder that students and staff should generally lock their doors and secure belongings when left unattended. Officers say if anyone has any information about this incident, call 618-453-3771.
