SIU Carbondale officials say a report of an assault on campus Wednesday night turns out be false.
University Police initially reported a female was assaulted on the north end of the Thompson Woods path at around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday.
But Thursday afternoon, police say after reviewing video evidence and conducting further interviews, they determined the claim was false and no crime occurred or was attempted.
They say the woman who made the complaint confirmed there was no assault.
University officials are following up with the student.
Charges are not being considered at this time.
