UPDATE: Carterville Boy Drowns

A Carterville boy is dead and another is hospitalized, after the two fell through thin ice Sunday afternoon.Williamson County Coroner Junior Burke says the boy who drowned is 12-year old Justin Johnson-Stewart of Carterville.   He was pronounced dead at 6:16 pm on Sunday. 

Emergency crews were called to a pond on Arbor Drive in Carterville just before  5:00 pm on Sunday.  Both boys were pulled from the pond and taken to Herrin Hospital. Burke says the other victim was being treated, but his condition has not been released.

The Coroner’s office and Carterville Police are still investigating the accident.
