The Union County Sheriff's Office would like to alert the public of a scam that appears to be making it's way around the county.
Authorities say if you receive a letter from "Shaw Financial Inc." with a check in your name from Wells Fargo Bank, it is counterfeit.
They say this scam appears to have been generated from South Africa.
If you should get anything through the mail like this, please disregard it.
