Two SIUC Athletes have won national acclaim at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Freshman Raven Saunders now has an outdoor shotput win to go with the indoor title she won earlier this year.
Saunders launched a new SIU, Missouri Valley Conference, and American Junior record throw, heaving the shot put 18.35m in her final attempt.
Also at the NCAA Championships, junior DeAnna Price captured a national title - this time in the hammer throw.
Price, who was out with a knee injury last season, hurled a 71.49m toss on Wednesday. That was good for first place and a new NCAA meet record.
The NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships continue through Saturday in Eugene, Oregon.
