Law enforcement agencies and road crews across much of the area are reporting most primary roads are clear of ice and snow.
Williamson County Commissioner Brent Gentry says the main roads in the county are in pretty good shape.
Gentry says the highway department crew has been primarily working on main roads and now starting into secondary roads. They hit the roads at 5 am Thursday and will continue till roughly 7 pm Thursday evening. He says as it stands now they will be back out around 5 am Friday morning.
The National Weather Service says some roads make become slick Thursday night into Friday morning as colder temperatures will result in re-freezing. Black ice will be possible as the low temperature drops into the single digits.
The Illinois Department of Transportation reports that only I-24 in southern Illinois still has patchy ice and snow. I-57, I-64 and I-70 are all reported as free of ice and snow.
