Hometown Teams is a Smithsonian exhibit currently on display at the Union County Museum in Cobden. It chronicles the history and influence of sports on our lives. In this edition of Southern Illinois Wonders, historian Judy Travelstead explores the pathway to integration of high school basketball in southern Illinois between the 1920's and the 1950's.
Judy Travelstead is a longtime member of the board of directors of the Union County Historical and Genealogy Society.
Hometown Teams is on display at the Union County Museum in Coben through April 13th. Southern Illinois Wonders is produced in collaboration with the Illinois Humanities Council, a non profit organization dedicated to fostering a culture in which the humanities are a vital part of the lives of individuals and communities.
