Authorities are still investigating a mysterious envelope sent to the Carbondale office of State Representative Mike Bost.Bost says about 10 o'clock this  morning his secretary showed him a hand-written letter addressed to him which contained a substance similar to broken up pieces of soap. The Murphysboro republican says he got everyone in the office away from the envelope and called the police.

Carbondale Police say field tests determined the substance was not hazardous. Authorities are still investigating.
The Murdale Post Office in Carbondale was also closed for a while today  as authorities investigated a post office box where Bost's campaign office receives mail. No additional suspicious items were found there.
