State Adds, Rejects Medical Marijuana Retailers

Medical Marijuana

The agency overseeing the medical marijuana retailers in Illinois has announced the qualification of one applicant and the disqualification of another.

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation announced Monday that Health Central LLC is qualified in two districts, one surrounding Springfield and the other east of St. Louis.  It disqualified IL WelMed in Hyde Park Township in Cook County.

Under Illinois law, medical marijuana retailers must be registered with the department to acquire the drug from cultivation centers.

The agency said Health Central LLC is qualified in Dispensary District 9, which is comprised of Cass, Christian, Logan, Mason, Menard, Morgan and Sangamon counties in the Springfield area, and District 11, comprised of Bond, Clinton, Madison, Monroe and St. Clair counties east of St. Louis.
