A mobile art museum dedicated to discussing social justice, forgiveness, and diversity is visiting Carbondale.
Also called the "Justice Fleet Van," it is an interactive museum providing canvases for people to create their own art.
Dr. Amber Johnson is the professor of communication and social justice at St. Louis University, and came up with the idea. She says the point of the museum is for people to be aware of their own personal biases and try to forgive themselves.
"And what I found was that that was sort of like the gateway for them to release the guilt, release the shame, and then begin thinking about practical solutions to help change the world and make it a better place."
Johnson says people finding peace through forgiveness is the whole point of the moving museum.
"It requires us to hold each other accountable, it requires us to be honest, it requires us to feel, but then let those feelings that are negative, go."
The museum will also be available Friday, March 31 from 11A-M until 2P-M on SIU's campus - between Faner Hall and the Student Services Building. Visit thejusticefleet.comfor more information.
