Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan has won another term as chair of the state Democratic Party - which works to elect Democrats to office.
Madigan says he's encouraged by the support he's getting from the party's committee members - even after one member voted against him.
"I talked to every member about my record as the party chairman. That secured me 35 out of the 36 votes. In general, the members of the committee were very receptive to my request that they vote for me to remain as the party chairman."
The only 'no' vote came from a member who says he wants the speaker to support specific progressive ideas and include Democrats who don't feel represented by the party.
