A longtime political aide to one of Illinois’ most powerful politicians - House Speaker Michael Madigan - has been fired for sending a woman inappropriate text messages.
A lawyer for Madigan’s political operation declined to name the woman, but said she’s a political consultant.
That consultant wrote a letter to Madigan in November, alerting him to the unwanted advances of Kevin Quinn.
Quinn is a longtime employee of Madigan’s political operation and filings with the State Board of Elections show Quinn made more than $500-thousand dollars since 1999 doing campaign work.
Quinn is the brother of Chicago Alderman Marty Quinn, who represents part of the city’s southwest side.
This all comes after the Me Too movement brought attention to the lack of options women had to bring forward complaints of sexual harassment in state politics.
