So IL Faces Drought Conditions

Parts of the region have had unusually sparse rainfall this spring, putting those areas in drought conditions.
In southern Illinois, the U.S. Drought Monitor reports Jackson, Williamson, Franklin, Union, Saline, Gallatin, Johnson, Pope, Hardin and Alexander Counties are abnormally dry for the time of year.  While parts of Pulaski, Massac and Pope counties are reported to be in a moderate drought.

In southeast Missouri, New Madrid and Mississippi Counties are in a moderate drought, and most of Scott and Stoddard counties are classified as abnormally dry.
