Southern Illinois University Carbondale has named a new Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Relations.
SIUC Chancellor Rita Cheng says James Salmo will take over the post at the end of November. Salmo is currently the Vice President for College Advancement at Rhode Island College in Providence. He has served at RIC since February of 2010. Salmo is a St. Louis native and the former Associate Vice Chancellor of Development at University of Missouri Columbia. Salmo has 17-years experience in public higher education over the course of a 28- year career. Salmo's appointment is subject to approval by the SIU Board of Trustees at its November 8th meeting in Edwardsville. Salmo will be paid $185,000 annually. Salmo replaces Ricky McCurry who left SIUC in 2011 for a similar post at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN.
