Four sitting provosts with experience overseeing academic initiatives and serving in multiple university roles have been named finalists for the chancellor's position at SIU-Carbondale.
They are Ohio University executive vice president and provost Pam Benoit, Oregon State University executive vice president and provost Sabah Randhawa, Texas Tech University senior vice president and provost Lawrence Schovanec and SIU-C acting provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs Susan Ford.
The candidates were identified by an advisory committee of faculty, staff, students and other university constituents. The committee received 30 applications and interviewed nine semi-finalists before recommending the four finalists to SIU President Randy Dunn, who will recommend a final candidate to the university's Board of Trustees following the interview process. Dunn is currently serving as interim chancellor. The four finalists will come to campus for interviews in late April and early May.
