SIU Trustees will begin looking at leadership options next week, as they now have to grapple with a suspended search for Chancellor on the Carbondale Campus, as well as the coming vacancy in the same position in Edwardsville.
SIU President Randy Dunn has talked a lot about streamlining operations in the administration. And while he says there could be discussion of options, he doesn't think the current structure will change much.
"From the standpoint of saying 'we're not going to have a permanent chancellor - eventually - at each of those two campuses,' at this point, I don't see the Board going there."
And while there may be a conversation, SIU President Randy Dunn doesn't expect a big change. He says there are too many reasons to keep things in place.
"Given the fact that they are stand-alone campuses, they're individually accredited. That really does auger for having a CEO for each location."
The search for a Carbondale campus Chancellor was suspended last month when the university couldn't come to terms with its preferred candidate, Oregon State University's Sabah Randhawa.
Last week, SIU Edwardsville's Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowie announced her resignation -effective next month- as she's accepted a job in Wisconsin.
The Board meets next Wednesday and Thursday in Springfield.
