Southern Illinois University Trustees are putting the finishing touches on a plan to search for a new system President, after Glenn Poshard announced his retirement plans in July.
Board Chairman Randal Thomas says the Executive Committee has been meeting regularly to work out details on how the search will come together, and he's hopeful a clear plan will be ready for presentation at the Board's regular meeting this month.
"We'll set out a calendar that will take us about eight months or so, to get to a point where we then have a narrowed field of excellent candidates to look for."
Thomas says it's a complex process, getting all constituencies ready for the search, and it's not yet been decided if an outside firm will be hired to help.
Trustees meet September 12 in Carbondale.
