SIU Readies Student Services Building

Southern Illinois University Carbondale will officially open its newest building during Homecoming festivities this weekend.
The Student Services Building houses many offices which used to be located in Woody Hall. Chancellor Rita Cheng says in addition to the physical upgrade of a new building, work flow and efficiency in the new facility will be noticeable:

"The directors of Financial Aid and Bursar and Registrar and Advising all being in the same building, and having a layout where students know there is a front door and there is a back processing area that is secure from prying eyes, so to speak, those are all that we couldn't do very efficiently in Woody Hall."

The $36.6 million building is funded through student fees, and Chancellor Cheng says students will get a great benefit from the streamlined process as well as new programs like University College.

The ribbon cutting for the Student Services Building is scheduled for 11:45 Saturday morning, during Homecoming.
